Scars

What exactly is a scar?

A scar is the product of the body's repair mechanism after tissue injury. When the skin is wounded, the tissues break, which causes a protein called collagen to be released. Collagen builds up where the tissue is damaged, helping to heal and strengthen the wound.

*(collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. Its fiber-like structure is used to make connective tissue. As the name implies, this type of tissue connects other tissues and is a major component of bone, skin, muscles,

tendons, and cartilage)

New collagen continues forming for several months and the blood supply increases, causing the scar to become raised and lumpy.

In time, some collagen breaks down at the site of the wound and the blood supply reduces. The scar gradually becomes smoother and softer.

Although scars are permanent, they can fade over a period of up to 2 years. It's unlikely they'll fade anymore after this time.

Scar Camouflage

At Curacao Scar Camouflage we use our innovative scar treatment that involves matching a tattoo ink formula with your skin pigments. This ink is perfectly blended into the skin tone during our specialized tattooing procedure,

thereby making scarring unnoticeable. Although the scar won’t necessarily disappear, the flesh-tone pigmentation we apply goes a long way toward concealing it.
